Although Park Wan-seo did not begin her literary career until she was almost forty, she has since become one of the most prolific and popular authors in Korea. Since her debut in 1970 with The Naked Tree, Park has been showered with numerous honors, including the Manhae Literature Prize, the Daesan Literature Prize and the Korean Literature Award.
