서울대학교 영어영문학과를 졸업하고 같은 학교 대학원에서 석사학위를, 미국 터프츠대학교에서 박사학위를 받았다. 편저 Edges of Transatlantic Commerce in the LongEighteenth Century가 있고, 주요 논문으로 “Feeling the Malthusian Empire: Martineau’s Reformulation of Population in Illustrations of Political Economy,” 「돌봄 빚의 미로: 『리틀 도릿』이 그리는 확산적 경제공동체와 모성서사의 기만」 등이 있다. 현재 KAIST 디지털인문사회과학부 교수로 재직 중이다.
