A noted political cartoonist with a background in the labor art and press reform movements, Son Mun-sang studied Asian painting (BFA) at the Chugye University for the Arts and worked at the online weekly Media Today before serially publishing cartoons in the dailies Hankook Ilbo, Dong-A Ilbo, and Busan Ilbo. To create his Flowing across Baghdad (collaboration), the artist traveled all the way to war-torn Iraq. He has authored Every Little Bit Helps (collaboration; published by Changbi) and Faces: The Heart of Korea Drawn by Son Mun-sang and illustrated You Know Logic When You Can Tell Sophistry and Dance with Chinese. The president of the National Association of Political Cartoonists in 2004, he received the Special Award in the reportage section of the 13th Democratic Press Award in 2003.
